A Fantastic Friday

While many here in the U.S. will feel like this Friday is fantastic because of the great bargains they find, my Fantastic Friday was last week. I had the opportunity to spend the day with my sister Judy in Orlando. When we were younger we used to do a lot together just the two of us. She took me to Europe for two weeks as my high school graduation present. Many people on our tour were amazed that siblings would actually choose to travel together. We had a great time and many adventures, including missing our flight home. Oops! We were stranded in Athens for two extra days.

Before Europe, Judy and I made many trips to the local mall where we both enjoyed a Strawberry Julius, a hot dog, or a soft pretzel. We also spent a lot of time at the local bowling alley, not bowling, but feeding quarters to the Ms. Pac-Man machine. We played until our wrists hurt trying to outsmart those ghosts and best each other! When I was just a little guy I remember standing on the couch so I’d be the same height as Judy while we danced to her Donna Summer albums. We enjoyed a lot of the same things despite our 8-year age difference.

Well, for the last two decades or so, Judy and I have been very busy running our businesses. We have been together at various family gatherings like Thanksgiving, Christmas, or the annual Moore Family summer vacation, but we haven’t had much one-on-one time. When I moved to Texas several months ago I wasn’t sure I would still be able to meet up with her in Orlando. When I lived in Fort Lauderdale I could simply get in my car and drive 4 hours north on the Florida Turnpike, but it takes a little more planning now.

I’m so grateful that I asked Spirit for guidance and a way to make this happen. That’s when I thought of my dear friend Rev. Cindy Grimes at the Center for Spiritual Living in Ocala, which is just 75 miles from Orlando. I met Cindy at the Big Sky Retreat in 2016 and have been to her amazing community to speak and do workshops a few times since then. I was thrilled when Cindy said the following weekend was open and she’d love to have me come to facilitate more Family Constellations. I was able to combine this trip to see my sister with an opportunity to share the work that lights me up, thus turning it into a win/win, the only kind of win in the eyes of Spirit.

Before our Fantastic Friday, we had a magical day at Universal Studios on Thursday with my partner and another beloved friend. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and dozens of other fun rides. Our two companions had to travel to other states on Friday, so Judy and I had our alone time.

I arrived at her hotel around 11 AM and we headed to Disney Springs to have lunch surrounded by dinosaurs and giant jellyfish at the T-Rex Restaurant. Our hostess sat us right next to a beautiful aquarium full of colorful tropical fish. It was the perfect setting for two kids at heart to catch up. We shared some of our recent struggles and triumphs and laughed a lot just like old times. After lunch, we strolled around the shops a little before finding a nice spot to sit and talk some more. As our time together was coming to a close, we decided to make one last pit stop at the Candy Cauldron. It turns out we both love Mickey Mouse shaped Rice Krispie treats. That was just one of the many things we discovered we still have in common.

Judy and I both got a little teary-eyed when I dropped her off at her hotel so she could join her family for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. I drove back to my hotel at Universal Studios, enjoyed a walk, had some dinner, and then returned to my room to do some work. It was a little before 10 o’clock when I climbed into bed to read before retiring for the day. A few minutes later I heard loud popping noises outside. I looked up from my book to see the sky illuminated with bursts of colored lights way off in the distance. I knew it must be the fireworks over the Magic Kingdom where my sister was attending the Christmas Party. What a spectacular way to end our Fantastic Friday! Spirit found a way to connect us once again with something we both enjoy.

This time of year often comes with as much sadness and stress as it does joy and peace. It would be my great honor to assist you in having more of the latter through a series of Life Coaching Sessions and/or a Family Constellations session. I encourage you to ask Spirit if perhaps now is the time to take a look at what might be going on under the surface and make some lasting changes to make this New Year your best one yet! Please visit my website or send me an email for more information and to schedule a session.

Until next time, may all your days be filled with fantastic surprises!

Those Little Nudges

As I go deeper into the teachings of A Course in Miracles, I am learning to listen to those little nudges from Spirit more and more. Last Friday, as I was walking home from Hermann Park, I got a nudge to open the Hay House Radio app on my iPhone. If you don’t know about this app, it’s a great resource for enlightening and uplifting conversations. There’s a wide variety of shows hosted by many of Hay House’s best authors. I usually listen on long road trips, but something told me to open up the app in that moment.

When it opened, the first thing I saw was the show title “The Book You Were Born to Write.” This immediately got my attention as I have been working on a book for years! Although I love to write, it has been a constant challenge for me to set aside time to work on my book. I was immediately drawn into a conversation between the show’s host, Nancy Levin, and Kelly Notaras, author of the forthcoming book with the same title. Kelly was sharing practical advice for aspiring spiritual authors. She has been in the publishing business for 20 years and is the founder of KN Literary, a company that helps writers turn their transformational messages into books. After just a few minutes, it was clear to me that Kelly loves what she does and loves sharing what she has learned. I was hooked!

As many authors do these days, Kelly offered a free gift to anyone who preordered her book. The gift was a 90-minute webinar to help writers get organized. I really liked her energy and what she shared, so I decided to order the book and sign up for the webinar. I’m so glad I did. The first thing she talked about in the webinar was common signs that indicate you might be a disorganized writer. The very first question Kelly asked was, “Have you had this book idea for years but just haven’t managed to find time in your schedule to write it?” Dang! She called me out in the first 5 minutes!

Needless to say, I got a lot out of that webinar. Her enthusiasm and love of “the book journey” was contagious. I feel like I have new inspiration and some organizational tools to finally get this book out of my head and on to the page! Thank you, Spirit, for that little nudge to open the Hay House Radio app that day. I was feeling stuck and this was just what I needed to get me motivated again.

Is there a book that you feel like you were born to write? Kelly Notaras freely shares wonderful information on Facebook and YouTube, as well as on her website. The Book You Were Born to Write: Everything You Need to (Finally) Get Your Wisdom onto the Page and into the World comes out on November 13.

Whatever your dream may be, I invite you to listen to those little nudges from Spirit. They are guiding you to a happy dream. Perhaps those nudges are telling you to reach out for some Life Coaching or a private Family Constellations session. Now is a great time to invest in yourself and get some practical tools to stay peaceful because things tend to get a little chaotic during the holiday season. Maybe you’re feeling stuck or like what used to work isn’t working any longer. I would be honored to help you get moving forward again with grace and ease. Please visit my website or send me an email for more information and to schedule a session from anywhere in the world.

Until next time, when the Universe gives you a nudge, act on it. You never know what miracles might be waiting for you!

“Everyone here has entered darkness, yet no one has entered it alone. Nor need he stay more than an instant. For he has come with Heaven’s Help within him, ready to lead him out of darkness into light at any time.”

A Cosmic Alarm Clock

I have already written about a few of the miracles that happened during my last trip to Serenity Farm in Virginia, but there is one more I’d like to share. Those of you who have been there will agree that Serenity Farm is appropriately named. Just being on the land has a calming, healing effect. However, my last day there I woke up to the sound of something that wasn’t exactly serene. A mysterious, recurring beeping noise was coming from the garage. It was clearly some kind of alarm, perhaps for the septic system or the natural gas tank, but my hostess, Gail, and I could not find its source. Baffled, Gail decided to call her groundskeeper, Kevin, to see if he was available to come out to the farm to help us discover what was making that persistent sound.

Over the years I’ve had several encounters with Kevin. He is a kind and gentle man, with a great love for his work. It seems to me the land loves him as much as he loves the land. It is thriving with his help and tender loving care. Kevin is also a very talented artist. He creates beautiful wood carvings of animals and also carved two angels at Serenity Farm. Every time I see him I ask to see his latest creations which he happily shows me on his smartphone. He clearly has a unique style and a great love for that work too.

Kevin arrived as promised about 30 minutes after Gail called him and found the beeping culprit in a matter of minutes. We were slightly embarrassed to learn it is was a disconnected smoke detector buried under a pile of boxes. It was letting us know it needed a new battery. Oops. Being the good-natured soul he is, Kevin did not seem to mind being called out to the farm that morning. In fact, he used the opportunity to bring one of his latest creations. He had noticed the ceramic pedestal supporting the table on Gail’s newly installed outdoor deck did not match the wood. Kevin created a new pedestal out of a cedar tree trunk to take its place. It was gorgeous!

The table supported Gail’s crystal singing bowl, so we decided to bring out the bowl to make sure the new pedestal was able to support its weight and wouldn’t wobble. Gail often has the bowl outside on the table so Kevin must have seen it many times. What he thought it was for we don’t know, but he had no idea it made a soothing tone when one circles the edge with the rubber mallet. His eyes sparkled and his grin widened when I started playing the bowl. He just kept saying, “Wow. I’ve never heard anything like that!”

Seeing how enthralled he was, Gail suggested I get my crystal singing bowl from inside the house so he could hear both of them playing together. I obliged and played my bowl as I walked across the front yard to the wooden deck nestled in the trees. Now Kevin’s eyes and smile were even bigger as the sound waves made by the bowls reverberated off of each other. He took a turn playing my bowl and got it singing fairly quickly. As he played my bowl he kept grinning saying, “You learn somethin’ new every day!” The three of us stood there for a few minutes on that deck surrounded by trees absorbed in the sound and the moment.

It makes me wonder why that discarded smoke alarm chose that particular morning to start beeping. Perhaps it was a cosmic alarm clock set by the Universe in order to bring Kevin to Serenity Farm that day. I find it interesting that a sound that was disturbing our peace ended up facilitating another sound that created a peaceful, holy instant for all of us. What I know for sure is it was a moment of connection I shall never forget.

Would you like some magical moments of healing and connection to help you move past something that is disturbing your peace? As we approach the holiday season when things seem to get extremely chaotic, now is a great time to give yourself the gift of Life Coaching or a private Family Constellations Session. Through the miracle of technology, we can connect from anywhere in the world. If you feel like you’ve hit a plateau on your spiritual journey and need new tools and a fresh way of looking at things, please visit my website or send me an email to schedule a session or series of sessions. I would be honored to help you start rising again!

Until next time, be on the lookout for those holy instants. They always arrive at the perfect time.
