The other night I dreamt that a rhinoceros burst through a door and ran through the back of a theater where I was attending a spiritual conference. It was quite startling, but everyone managed to jump out of the way as the rhino charged through the building. Other things happened in that dream, but this is the scene I remembered most clearly when I woke up. What was that all about? Moments after I asked this question, it occurred to me that the charging rhino in the back of the theater was a symbol of breaking through and clearing away old and limiting beliefs in the back of my mind. With the rhino’s help, now there was a clear path for more positive thoughts and beliefs to enter. Over the past few years, I have had many strange dreams like this where I have received a clear metaphysical interpretation shortly after waking. However, this time it got stranger.

The next morning, my partner was telling me about a text conversation he had with two of my sisters during the baseball game the previous night. I couldn’t believe my ears when he said one sister sent a message about me and a rhinoceros. I hadn’t told anyone about my dream yet. He asked if I had any idea what she was talking about. Suddenly, I remembered a silly picture we took last November during “Zoo Lights” at the Houston Zoo. I laid on the ground in front of a rhino statue and pretended I was about to be trampled. He sent that picture to my sisters almost a year ago, but she was just commenting on it now. This synchronicity definitely got my attention. ( I was tempted to call it a “sync-rhino-city” but decided against it. You’re welcome.)

Apparently, the Universe really wanted me to get this message because it kept showing up all week. Both the Sunday and Wednesday services at Unity of Houston were about the use of affirmations and denials. Just to be clear, this kind of denial isn’t about sticking your head in the sand and pretending like something isn’t happening. I love the way Rev. Jeanmarie Eck defined a denial more as an act of releasing. In her message on Wednesday night, she offered this simple sentence as an example of a denial. “I release the power I have given to ________.” You can fill in the blank with any situation or person that is trying to take away your peace. Once you reclaim your power, you can redirect it toward love by stating an affirmation. “I am ________.” Fill in that blank with an empowering spiritual truth about yourself.

How does that relate to my dream? Essentially, a denial is that rhinoceros clearing the way for what you truly desire. Using another metaphor, you can’t remodel your kitchen without tearing out some of the old cabinets and countertops. You might even need to take down a few walls. Why not enlist the help of a powerful rhino to help with the demolition? This was exactly the image I needed this week to help me clear out some old thoughts and beliefs that were buried deep in my unconscious. The clearing is still happening, but I’m grateful for the rhino’s help and this message. I hope it helps you too.

If you could use further assistance in this area, maybe now is the time to schedule  a private Family Constellations session. This powerful healing modality has a way of breaking through old limiting beliefs quickly. You might also try a four, eight, or twelve-week series of Life Coaching sessions to install a new empowering thought system. All sessions can be done from anywhere in the world by telephone, Skype, Zoom, or FaceTime. Please look around  my website or send me an email for more information and to schedule a session.

Until next time, I invite you to release the rhino in your unconscious mind and clear the way for what you truly desire.

And what you seem to waken to is but another form of this same world you see in dreams. All your time is spent in dreaming. Your sleeping and your waking dreams have different forms, and that is all.
