I don’t know if this happens to you, but once in a while I have a dream that feels like more than just my unconscious mind doing some spring cleaning. These dreams feel like clear messages from Spirit, my higher self, or whatever you want to call it, giving me guidance on how to live a more peaceful life. The dream I had the other morning combined seemingly random aspects of my life to create a scenario to help remind me how miracles work.
In the dream, I was just starting a new office job at IBM. Why IBM? Well, that company was born just across the river from my hometown in Upstate New York. My father worked there, and so did I for three summers during college. On my first day of this “dream job,” I was given a phone number that people could call if they needed my assistance. While setting up my voicemail, I discovered that this number had already been assigned to another employee. It didn’t take long for him to find out I had taken over his number. He showed up at my cubicle within minutes very angry, yelling at me about how critical it was that he keep that number.
Apparently, this was the number to call when catastrophic emergencies shut down computers and electrical power in the entire area. He ranted about past earthquakes and severe weather and showed me public service announcements and several brochures where this number was published. He continued shouting that he was not giving up this number. I calmly told him that I understood his position, and I would be happy to let him have the number since I just started. However, I was not the one to speak with about it since I didn’t assign the numbers.
Having worked in the telecommunications department for two and a half years at the Miami Beach Convention Center, I knew it was just a matter of speaking with the telecom technicians to reassign the number. This part of the dream happens to be true. When I first moved to South Florida in 2001, somehow I ended up being the Telecommunications Services Manager for the MBCC. My unconscious mind wove both of my jobs in corporate America together to deliver this message.
The situation was quickly resolved once he contacted the technicians. He got to keep his very important number and I took the one he was assigned. When I first woke up I remembered those specific numbers, but they faded from my memory quickly. That’s unfortunate because I might have dreamt the winning numbers for Powerball! More valuable than millions of dollars was the reminder of how easy it can be to resolve conflict. If we remain calm, listen to another’s side of the story, we can often come up with a solution that works for all. Now can someone tell me how the leaping puppies and the playful snowball fight at the end of my dream fit into all this?
Is there a situation or conflict in your life where you could use a miracle? It would be my great honor to assist you with a series of Life Coaching sessions or a Family Constellations session. Both give you tools to see things from a different perspective. That’s where miracles happen. Please look around my website or send me an email for more information and to schedule a session.
Until next time, may your dreams be happy ones whether they contain winning lottery numbers or not.
A miracle is a service. It is the maximal service you can render to another. It is a way of loving your neighbor as yourself. You recognize your own and your neighbor’s worth simultaneously.
