Rainbow Time

A few weeks ago, the apartment community where I live installed a new fountain in the pond outside my window. This was a welcome addition because the old one rarely worked. Now I get to enjoy the relaxing sound of falling water all the time. I’ve noticed that the turtles in the pond seem to enjoy swimming under the cascading water droplets as well.

This new fountain brought an added bonus. At a certain time in late afternoon, sunlight hits the fountain spray at just the right angle, causing the white light to refract into the brilliant, beautiful colors of the rainbow. It only lasts for a little while, but whenever I happen to be looking out my window at that time, it always makes me smile.

The other day it happened while I was on a call with my prayer partner. We were wrapping up the sharing of our life situations in preparation to pray when the rainbow colors began to reveal themselves in the water droplets outside. It seemed like such a clear message from Spirit to trust in divine timing, I felt inspired to include it in our prayer.

Even during challenging situations, when I relax and trust that things are falling into place at exactly the right moment, just like the rainbow in the fountain, peace returns. When I try to force events to happen according to my schedule, that’s when I become stressed and anxious. However, trusting the process is something that takes practice.

One way I build that trust is to look back on my life and observe how every experience led to the next. There is no way I could have planned all those “chance” meetings, events, and circumstances. Taking time to reflect on this truth helps me trust the unfoldment of life, even when I hit those unpleasant bumps in the road. Those bumps often redirected my path toward opportunities I would never have imagined.

That beautiful rainbow was a timely reminder. Perhaps the thing I desire isn’t happening yet because it is not the right time. I know this can be a frustrating or infuriating perspective when we have been waiting for something for a long time or when conditions are extremely poor. Consider this:

Maybe the perfect home for you is not currently available because the current owners have yet to put it on the market or the current tenants have yet to move out. Perhaps a fulfilling job opportunity is about to open up when someone is promoted or decides to pursue another career. Maybe that romantic partner hasn’t moved to your city yet and you’ll meet when that happens. I invite you to look back at your life and notice how much of it depended on timing. It’s astounding!

No amount of wishing will make the sunlight hit those water droplets at the right angle sooner. It will happen at just the right moment to produce the rainbow of colors. This week, whatever you’re dreaming of, I encourage you to trust that “rainbow time” will happen. And before it does, do your best to return to a place of peace so when those colors begin to appear, you’ll know exactly what inspired action to take!

If I can be of assistance in helping you return to peace while opening your heart to what’s possible, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Shelter from the Storm

An interesting thing happened on my morning walk with my sister this week. We set out on my normal route along Sarasota Bay under clear blue skies with a few clouds floating overhead. About 20 minutes into our walk, we both noticed a very dark, ominous-looking storm cloud in the distance. And it was heading our way!

Since we were already quite a distance from where I parked my car, we decided to keep going and take a chance that we might get wet. No big deal. We have both walked in the rain before. A little water wouldn’t hurt us.

Well, things got ugly very quickly. The gray storm cloud got bigger and began releasing a few raindrops on us just as we crossed a large bridge. As soon as we walked underneath that bridge, the skies opened up and sheets of water pummeled the ground. Other walkers and joggers on the bridge scrambled to take cover, but we were already safely sheltered from the storm.

As we watched Mother Nature’s show, we commented on how lucky we were to be under the bridge at the precise moment when the torrential downpour began. Had we started our walk five minutes earlier or five minutes later we would have been drenched! I mentioned to my sister that this experience felt significant.

We have been waiting for some things to fall into place this week, but everything is moving slower than the sloths in Disney’s Zootopia. (If you don’t know this reference, click here to see the video for a laugh.) This occurrence under the bridge was a powerful reminder to trust that everything is falling into place exactly as it should. Events were timed perfectly so that we are protected from the storm.

Yes, we can do our part to keep things moving along, but once we’ve done our due diligence, it’s best to surrender and stop trying to push the river. Experience has taught me that there is a benevolent force in the Universe that is orchestrating every detail for our highest good and the highest good of everyone. When I remember that I return to peace.

After a few minutes, the storm cloud passed, the rain stopped, and the sun began to peek out from behind the clouds.  We resumed our walk in the sunshine with a bit more pep in our step, grateful for the shelter and the message.

Perhaps some of you reading this are in a similar situation. Do things seem to be moving at a sloth’s pace when you’d prefer them to be sprinting through the savannah like a cheetah? As frustrating as that is, maybe my experience and message under the bridge will help you trust that everything is unfolding in Divine Time. I’ve certainly had to remind myself of this truth as we hit more roadblocks later in the week!

I would be honored to help you discern what’s yours to do and what’s yours to release with a series of Spiritual Coaching Sessions or a private Family Constellations Session. Both are excellent ways to see the bigger picture and return to peace. Please look around my website to learn more or to book a session with my automated scheduler. No matter where you live, we can meet online to do this healing work using Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime. I look forward to working with you!

Your passage through time and space is not at random. You cannot but be in the right place at the right time.

A Miracle Happened at the DMV

Earlier this year, I had ongoing frustrations dealing with Honda Financial Services. When my lease ended in January, I decided to purchase my car with a lease buyout. The first challenge occurred when a Houston Honda dealer sent them a payment without my authorization. Due to very poor customer service and more than $2,000 of mysterious additional fees that no one could adequately explain, I decided not to pursue a loan with them. Imagine my surprise when I logged into my account the next day to discover that my balance had been paid!

I called Honda Financial Services and waited on hold for at least 30 minutes to speak to a customer service agent. Little did I know this would be the first of many half hours spent listening to that hold music and Honda’s special offers. I did my best to be patient knowing many businesses were understaffed due to the pandemic. When an agent finally answered, I explained my situation and she assured me that she would get the paperwork straightened out with the dealership. In the meantime, I had secured a loan through other means, so she advised me to mail the payoff check to them along with my odometer disclosure statement. Once they received my check and that document, Honda would send me the title via FedEx. That sounded good to me.

For the next few months, I waited for FedEx to deliver my title, but it never came. I made more calls to Honda to check on the status with more half hours on hold, but nothing expedited the process. I found out that the title had been issued and sent to the Honda dealer in Houston. Once the dealership sent it back, it would be another 8-10 weeks before they could issue another title with my name on it. Again, I waited.

It was during this time that my guidance to leave Texas became crystal clear. With no news about my title, I began to get anxious. For some reason, I had it in my head that I needed to take care of this lingering detail before I moved back to the Sunshine State. Three days before my move, I surrendered to the fact that my title would not arrive before I left. I called Honda (once again waiting the obligatory 30 minutes on hold) to give them my temporary Florida address and ask that they please FedEx the title to me there. The nice woman on the phone assured me that was not a problem.

As you may have already guessed, that’s not what happened. FedEx delivered it to my address in Houston a month later. It had to be mailed to me in a pre-addressed envelope that I created knowing this would probably happen. Glory! Hallelujah! I finally received the title in the mail 7 months after sending my payoff check to Honda. But, alas, there was a lesson that life wanted to teach me…again.

After all that anxious waiting, the title sat in my drawer for another month! I had found a new apartment but it wouldn’t be ready until August 13. Rather than change the address twice, I decided to wait and title my car when I got my new Florida driver’s license and license plates. Oh, what a happy day that was! And to my surprise, I was able to do all 3 of those things at the same office with the same customer service representative.

Miguel defied every stereotype and joke you’ve ever heard about the DMV. Not only was he super friendly and efficient, but he delivered some happy news. Since my car was originally titled in Florida where I leased it, I saved over $200 in fees. I also noticed Florida sales tax was $100 less than it would have been in Texas. It turns out those frustrating delays were actually working in my favor! They saved me quite a bit of money and a lot of unnecessary paperwork. What a powerful lesson in surrendering what I think should happen, and trusting the divine timing of the Universe.

Is there something happening or not happening in your life that is trying to take away your peace? I would be honored to assist you in seeing things from another perspective with a series of Spiritual Coaching sessions or a private Family Constellations session. Both can help you develop a sense of trust that everything is unfolding for your highest good. For more information about these opportunities and to book a session, please look around my website or send me an email.

This week, may you find ways to experience peace while trusting that everything is unfolding perfectly.

What could you not accept, if you but knew that everything that happens, all events, past, present and to come, are gently planned by One Whose only purpose is your good?
